Dorm tour at University of South Carolina.

Hey guys, this post is just all about my dorm in Wade Hampton at University Of South Carolina.

Wade Hampton (WH) is right next to the student union and I absolutely LOVE IT! It’s gorgeous, has a nice courtyard, great location, is suite style, and has killer air conditioning.

I am living on the third floor of WH. My rommmate and I got so lucky because not only do we have a view of the beautiful courtyard, but we also have our own bathroom. I’m not sure how we don’t have suite mates ( people who are next door to you that you share a bathroom with), but we don’t.

So that’s great.

Anyways, when my family arrived to move in, we had a lot of work to do. This was because the parking spot we were given was pretty far from my building.

People were almost competing to get a cardboard box and dolly. So definitely bring your own!

My dorm before I did anything to it

My room was set up, but of course not in a way I liked it so I had to rearrange ALL of the furniture.

So the first thing I did was move the furniture from under the beds and lowered the bed height. I did not want my bed that high but knew that I wanted it semi-lofted so that I could still put stuff under it.

Then, my sister and I put the furniture in the places we wanted it. So I put both beds along the walls so that they were parallel to each other. Then we put the desk in between because it was important to me that I could see my roommate.

And thennnnn we had to put the rug down. Which probably should have been first but it’s tough to move the furniture with the friction of the rug.

Now I am lucky enough to have a super talented and handy momma, so she build headboards for my roommate and I.

I happen to think this is such a great hack: put an egg crate cushion under the mattress. The reason I wanted to do this is because when I move, my mattress would squeak on the springs which is so annoying.

I’m all about making my dorm feel like home. So I had plants and lights and little decor everywhere. I also had tons of clothes and stuff I wanted to bring so I brought a second dresser which I do not regret one bit!

In the photo you can also see I have curtains which isn’t really for decor but because the blinds suck and I need complete darkness to sleep haha. I also bought a fold up chair for when friends want to hang out 🙂

This is what my closet looks like. The building provides these wardrobes with a white board outside and they are so awesome. They have so much space and are soooo functional.

Right here is my desk. I also use this as my nightstand since it’s right next to my bed.

I was bummed because my desk doesn’t really come with drawers or a hutch, so I ordered one on amazon for like $20. The small hutch actually makes a huge difference!

I also am lucky enough to have a sink in my room so I just have all of my beauty supplies below it! Ps. Don’t forget to save one drawer for medicine.

So after all of those little details, this is the final product of my room! I’m super excited about it and it already feels like home, especially after a long day 😉

I hope you liked getting a glimpse of my dorm and my decor as I worked real hard on it. Let’s hope it doesn’t get too messy now.

Sincerely, Meghan Ann
